A coma sends an old man into his childhood's sinister fantasy world, where he must fight dementia and gain back his memories before it's too late.An old composer aand a musician Tom has lived a long and prosperous life he cannot remember. He suffers from dementia and still thinks he's a young boy. Once Tom gets a stroke and slips into a coma, he travels back to his childhood's fantasy world where his dementia is disguised as a cunning, but sinister snowman. As Tom escapes deeper into the dream, he encounters events where his imagination mixes with the reality and his past. Simultaneously in the real world, Tom's daughter Gem, is trying to discover the mysteries of her father's life through his last written song. As she's had a distant and bitter relationship with her father for years, she begins her search reluctantly. Eventually one single element brings the closer to each other. In the coma, Tom must find a way to defeat the snowman, to rebuild his memories and to gain his daughter's love before it's too late.
Imaginaerum is a music fantasy film with the original score by Nightwish. The movie is produced alongside Nightwish's album with the same title.
